Farming 101
How does farm life affect your health and the environment? Two things come to mind, you are what you eat and food does not come from a grocery store. Food comes from a farm, or in many cases today a factory farm.
Let's look at the difference between the two farms. At Graham Farms /Omega Meats, my philosophy is raise the best possible product that I can. Achieving the best possible product requires adapting practices that take care of the land (pasture) and the animals. These practices include using no short cuts, no artificial band aids, no annual government subsidies, and love of the land and of the livestock. On the other hand, factory farms' philosophy is to raise the product at the absolute lowest price. To achieve this, they must use many short cuts, chemicals, and hormones. They do not consider if is it good for the soil, animal or consumer. They are interested in producing a cheaper, quicker product. Below is a partial list to illustrate my point.
